Prathamesh Laghate is an Indian singer, musician, and artist. He was born in 1995 in the small village of Aravali, which is in Ratnagiri- the Konkan district of Maharashtra. The singer was born- Prathamesh Umesh Laghate and has a brother known as Pratik Laghate. Prathamesh Laghate finished his schooling at Makhjan English School. Then, he switched to Mumbai University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Arts with a major in Marathi Literature and History. After that, he received his Master’s in Classical Music from Bharati Vidyapeeth University in Pune. In July 2023, Prathamesh Laghate got engaged to ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Marathi L'il Champs’ co-star, Mugdha Vaishampayan.
Prathamesh Laghate always had a passion for music and pursued it diligently. He has trained under the renowned vocalist- Shri Jayteerth Mevundi of Kirana Gharana. Prathamesh Laghate is a skilled pure classical and semi-classical singer. He is famous for his devotional music and excellent command of Natya Sangeet Abhangas and other traditional singing forms. Prathamesh Laghate has also worked in the Marathi film industry. He made his debut in the year 2013 when he sang 'Yaara Yaara' in the film ‘Duniyadari’. Since then, he has provided vocals for other famous Marathi films like Panghrun (2021) and 1909 (2014). Prathamesh Laghate has won multiple awards for his singing. In 2020, Prathamesh Laghate was awarded The Surjyotsna National Music Awards. He has also been a recipient of Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Puraskar and Anil Mohile Smruti Puraskar. Prathamesh Laghate’s contributions were recognized in 2018 when he received the Natasamrat Balgandharva award by Pune Bharat Gayan Samaj.
In August 2014, Prathamesh Laghate opened his own YouTube channel, where he regularly posts musical content in the form of singing videos or YouTube shorts. As a child, Prathamesh Laghate participated in the Marathi show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Marathi L'il Champs’, and became a finalist in the year 2008-2009. After the success of the show. Universal Music India and Zee Marathi collaborated to form albums which are a compilation of the best performances on the show. An extension of this initiative was the formation of the ‘Panch-Ratna’. The Panch-Ratna is a singing group made up of five stars from the show, including Kartiki Gaikawad, Rohit Raut, Aarya Ambekar, Mugdha Vaishampayan, and Prathmesh Laghate. Along with being judges on ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Marathi L'il Champs’, the group has also gone on tour to multiple states in the country and foreign countries in the Arabian Gulf, where they have given harmonious performances.
