P.C. Shivan, also called P. C. Shevaraj or P. C. Shekhar, is famous for his immense contribution to the Indian Music industry. He was excellent at composing music as well as singing. He was born in Kollam, a tiny town in the southern Indian state of Kerala, on the 5th of August. 1921. Since childhood, Shivan has been passionate about music. As he was from a family with a musical background, his father was a famous classical musician who used to teach him music. In this blog, we will learn more about him. Shivan was interested in playing instruments such as Violin, flute and Harmonium. During the 1950s, he entered the music industry and did many notable works in films in different languages, such as Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi.

Many critics praised one of his unique talents as he used to mould Indian classical music with contemporary styles. The way Shivan used to give a musical touch to his music melted the hearts and touched the souls of numerous music enthusiasts nationwide. He used to mould Indian classical music with contemporary styles and made unique kinds of music for which his songs were so top-notch. Shivan received several awards and honours for his contributions to music, including the prestigious Padma Shri award from the Indian government in 1993.

He was also awarded the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for the Malayalam film Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha in 1989. Shivan achieved many prestigious honours and awards for his priceless works, which gave the Indian music industry lots of classics. In 1993 he was honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri award and National Film Award for Best Music Direction for the Malayalam film "Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha" in 1989. Shivan always had a down-to-earth personality despite achieving so many awards and honours and was a wonderful human being. He was involved in his musical passion throughout his life. On the 9th of July, 2005, he left this world. Everyone remembers him for his rich quality of work and dedication towards music.
