P L Mayekar is a veteran Indian playwright. He also indulges in story writing and dialogue writing for films. He is most well-known for his work in the Marathi theatre and film industry. Having been a cancer patient for over two years, P L Mayekar passed away due to cancer-related complications on 18th August 2015. As a story writer, he is most renowned for his work in the Bollywood movie Horn ‘OK’ Pleassss which was released in the year 2009. As a playwright, he has worked under prestigious banners such as Chandralekha and Bhadrakali. Some of his most popular plays include Deepstambh, Godi Gulabi, Pandgo Elo Re ba IIlo, Aasu Ani Hasu, and Raatrani. Mayekar was the recipient of the Ram Ganesh Gadkari award, conferred upon him by the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad. He has also authored the book Abhinav Ekankika, written in Marathi and the audiobook Aasu Ani Hasu, spoken in Marathi.
