Kumar Sohoni, aka Narendra Kumar Narhar Sohoni, is a Marathi theatre-film producer, director, and screenwriter. He was born on March 31, 1955. Shobhana Sohoni, his mother, was an expert on music. He grew up in Thane, Maharashtra, where he made his directing debut on May 4, 1973, the same day that Thane's amateur theatre group "Kalasargam" was founded.
He applied for a scholarship to the National School of Drama in Delhi after completing his education. Out of hundreds of applicants, Sohoni was one of the select few to get a scholarship for a three-year programme in theatrical direction and stagecraft.
