Sumesh Lal is an Indian designer and director born in Trivandrum, Kerela. He's someone who's identity is established as a musician though he is not. He's rather someone who is a revolutionary in the Malayalam music industry. Sumesh who has a 15-year career in direction field was very much involved in music right from his school days in Loyola School, Trivandrum. He got his Electronics and communication engineering degree from TKM college of engineering, Kollam affiliated to the prestigious Kerela University, after which he worked as a trainee engineer in Asianet for a few years. That was the time when the Malayalam music industry was stuck in a groove, holding up the same old music. It was called the post-Yesudas era. It needed some young mind to lift it up from the slimy pit. It needed someone who would give a new life to the music of Kerela. And that was Sumesh Lal.

In 2007, Sumesh proposed the idea of starting a new channel. And when that idea was accepted, he started a new community channel based on Trivandrum and named it Rosebowl. At that time, he might not be aware of the fact that he would be the music idol everyone was waiting for. Rose bowl which was initially a community channel got developed and became a fully fledged channel under his leadership. He has directed many successful programs which are regarded as milestones in Malayalam music industry. A few such events are Outcast vocals, Complete JAM sessions, etc.

Later he left rice bowl and started his company Aum-i-Artistes in Bangalore which manages schedule of top musicians in South India and also produce content for television. It has organized more than 50 events till date. He then worked as a content consultant on channels like Yes India Vision and Kappa TV, which is a Malayalam independent music channel of Mathrubhumi group, the publisher of Mathrubhumi daily. His passion was to promote independent music with a mixture of genres rather than age old music of dulcet tones and staid lyrics. He wanted to release the Malayalam music industry from the hands of films. He also realized this dream by organizing programs like Music Mojo, which brought into light the musical tastes of youngsters in the name of bands like Avial (named after a famous vegetable dish of Kerela), Thaikkudam Bridge, Masala Cafe Masala Café is a comedy show that is broadcasted o >> Read More... , Traffic block and so on. These bands took music out of the cinema and into the streets. Recently he directed "Humans of Someone,” an independent feature film in English.

The prolog of the film was released in poetic style and was found that it's a tribute to the great Malayalam director, P.Padmarajan, it was even named Dear Padmarajan. As a final note, Sumesh Lal if known or not in other parts of India will always be a music idol in God's own country.
