Kim Soon Ok was born on 25th May 1971 in South Korea. She is a screenplay writer. Kim completed her graduation in Korean Language and Literature at Ewha Woman's University. She worked for Jidam Inc. and SM Life Design. Kim started her career in 2000 with Respect For Love. Im Hwa Min directed the series for MBC, and it telecasted on Fridays. Kim Jung-nan and Kim Il-woo were cast in Respect For Love. In the same year, she scripted Father’s Autumn for MBC. Like her debut series, it is also directed by Im Hwa Min. Lee Ho-Jae, Jung Seung-ho, and Kim Hae-sook were seen playing the main roles. In 2001, Kim Soon Ok scripted Fish At the End of the Sea that telecasted on MBC. Im Hwa Min directed the series featuring Ha Jae-young, Shin Eun-Jung, and Lee Dong-Wook.

In 2002, she wrote scripts for a couple of MBC series, Till Winter Goes Away and Baking Bungeoppang in Heaven. In 2004, Kim Soon penned Freezing Point. Kang Byung Moon directed it. Choi Soo-ji, Sunwoo Jae-Duk, Yoo Tae-Woong, and Kim Hyun-Jung are seen in the lead roles. Hearts of Destiny is her script that took the digital form in 2007. Directed by Kim Woo Seon, the series had Kim Ji-ho, Lee Chang-hoon, Go Eun-mi, and Shim Hyung-Tak. Some of her works, including Temptation of Wife, Temptation of an Angel, Smile, Mom, Five Fingers, The Birth of a Family, Jang Bo-ri is Here, and My Daughter Geum Sa-Wol released in 2008 – 2015.

In 2014, she received the Writer of the Year at MBC Drama Awards for the series Jang Bo-ri is Here. In 2016, she penned Band of Sisters, directed by Choi Young Hoon, on SBS. Jang Seo-hee, Kim Ju-Hyeon, Oh Yoon-ah are in the cast. In 2018, Kim Soon Ok penned The Last Empress for SBS. Joo Dong-min directed the series that featured Jang Na-ra, Shin Sung-rok, Choi Jin-hyuk, Shin Eun-Kyung, and Lee Elijah. In 2020, she started writing the Pent House series. The Penthouse: War in Life, The Penthouse 2, and The Penthouse 3 featured Lee Ji-ah, Kim So-Yeon, Eugene, Um Ki-Joon, Yoon Jong-hoon, Shin Eun-Kyung, Bong Tae-kyu, Park Eun-Seok, Yoon Joo-hee, and Ha Do-Kwon and these series were directed by Joo Dong-min.
