What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim? is a South Korean TV serial that aired on the channel tvN every Wednesday and Thursday at 9:30 pm. It premiered on TV from 6 June 2018 to 26 July 2018 for 16 episodes. It was based on a novel of the same title written by Jung Kyung-yoon. It was written by Jung Eun-young, directed by Park Joon-hwa, and produced by Lee Young-ok under Bon Factory Worldwide. The lead cast of the serial includes Park Seo-joon as Lee Yeong-jun and Park Min-young as Kim Mi-so. Yeong-jun is the vice-chairman of the Yumyeon Group company that was established by his family.

His brother, Sung-yeon, is an author who has a crush on Mi-so, Yeong-jun’s secretary, who has been working for him for nine years. Yeong-jun steers clear from all women other than Mi-so, and everyone wonders if he’s gay, which he’s not. One day she announces to him that she would quit her job. When he asks her why she tells him that her job is too hectic and tedious. She wants time to focus on her personal life, find love, and get married. On hearing this, Yeong-jun realises that he has feelings for her and tells her that he would marry her. Mi-so has always seen Yeong-jun as a narcissist who doesn’t care about others.

She only worked for him that long to clear her father’s debts and to help her sister study. Mi-so hires another lady as his secretary and trains her. Even after being rejected, Yeong-jun keeps trying his best to impress her. Mi-so starts wondering why he hired her in the first place, knowing that she wasn’t qualified enough for the job. When she tries to fish into the reason, Yeong-jun dismisses her questions, saying that if she was under-qualified, she could be pushed around. When Mi-so meets with an accident, she finds out the actual truth. When Mi-so was five years old, and Yeong-jun was nine years old, he was abducted by a woman who was angry at her husband for leaving her and was looking for company.

This incident scarred Yeong-jun for life. After a few days of being locked up by the woman, she also abducts Mi-so and locks her up with Yeong-jun. After a few hours, the woman hangs herself in front of Yeong-jun, and he doesn’t let Mi-so witness that. He gets them both out of there and feels grateful that she was there with him. They make a childhood pact to marry when they grow up. Yeong-jun couldn’t get close to women as everyone reminded him of his abductor. On learning this information, Mi-so’s feelings for him grow stronger, and agrees to marry him. The last episode features their wedding that brought tears to all the viewers.
