Korean Screenplay Writer Kim Eun-sook

Kim Eun-Sook was born in 1973 in Gangneung-si, South Korea, and is a well-known television scriptwriter. Kim first gained recognition as a screenplay writer with her Korean drama ‘Lovers in Paris’ (2004), which turned out to be a great hit among audience. The plots and settings of Kim's vision made her an illustrator of the romantic comedy genre because of the magnificence and overseas locations she used in her writings. The drama ‘Lovers in Paris’ got her "Best TV Screenplay" award in 2005 in Baeksang Arts Awards and also became the Korea’s 11th most favourite television series of all time.

She wrote many fantasy dramas that enchanted the audience and resulted in significant successful ratings that took her career to peak point, including “Lovers in Prague”, “Secret Garden”, “A Gentleman's Dignity”, “Descendants of the Sun”, and “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God”. All these series came out as incredible sensations on stage, winning Kim awards and honours. Kim was honoured with Prime Minister's Awards for Secret Garden in 2011. She also received the 'Outstanding Korean Screenwriter' award, 'Seoul International Drama' award, and 'Best Writer' for her outstanding writings.

All her series always had an essence of melodrama, love, and laughter that delighted viewers of every age. Her 'Descendants of the Sun' became extremely famous across Asia and received numerous awards. Guardians became the fifth massive ranked drama, while Mr. Sunshine served the sixth-highest ranked series in the history of Korean Cable Television. Today Kim's television dramas are attracting a wide range of viewers nationally and internationally because of the light-hearted, connecting interpretations she cites through her writing. She is currently one of the most esteemed Korean screenplay writers amusing people with her talent every day.
