Song Ji Na is a screenwriter born on 12th September 1959 in Seoul, South Korea. She did Journalism & Mass Communication at Ewha Woman's University. Song started her career as a writer on MBC Radio’s Starry Night. In 1982, she made her TV debut for a children’s program, tiger Teacher. Song Ji Na associated with Kim Jong Hak, a TV director, and brought many hit dramas. In 1987, they joined their hands for The Last Station, a miniseries. It was an eight-episode series featuring Jung Dong-hwan and Kang Moon-young. In 1988, she wrote the drama Teacher, Teacher, Our Teacher, directed by Kim Jong Hak. In the same year, she wrote a drama, Human Market, based on a novel.
In 1990, MBC celebrated its 30th anniversary, Song and Kim made a drama, Eyes of Dawn. It starred 270+ actors. Choi Jae Sung, Chae Shi Ra, and Park Sang Won are cast. This drama was one of the top-rated at that time, with 58.4% viewership. In 1992, Song co-founded a production company with Kim named Jcom. After three years, they started making dramas for SBS, which was started during that period. In 1995, Song was scripted for Sandglass, and it grabbed the audience's attention and got them a stunning viewership of 64.5%. Choi Min-soo, Park Sang-won, Go Hyun-Jung, and Lee Jung-Jae were cast. With Eyes of Dawn and Sandglass, Song and Kim turned very popular, and the stars they introduced got a huge number of fans. In 1997, Song penned for the movie 3 Pm directed by Kwak Kyung-Taek. In 1999, she wrote the script for Love, a movie featuring Ko So Young and Jung Woo-Sung. The same year, she penned the script for Love Story, an anthology series that premiered from December 1999 to January 2000.
In 2002, she penned a period drama, Daemang, directed by Kim, featuring Lee Yo Won and Jang Hyuk. In 2003, she wrote Rosemary, a story about an ill wife. Kim Seung-woo, Yoo Ho-Jeong, Yeon Jung-hoon, and Bae Doona are seen in important roles. After a four-year hiatus from her career, she joined Kim once again and penned The Legend / Taewangsasingi / The Four Guardian Gods of the King. The Slingshot in 2009, What's Up? In 2011, Faith in 2012, “Healer” in 2014, and The King in Love in 2017 were some of her hit serials. Song Ji Na is married to director Jin Ki-Woong, and the couple has a son, Jin Han-Sae. Jin is a screenwriter, and he wrote the script for Naver in 2017 and “Extracurricular,” the Netflix series in 2020.
