Kwak Kyung-Taek is a popular South Korean director cum screenplay writer, born on 23rd May 1966 in Busan, South Korea. He has a sister, Kwak Sin Ae, who produces movies. She is popular for producing the Oscar-winning movie “Parasite.” Kwak started his career in 1997 with 3 pm Bathhouse Paradise. In 1999, he directed Dr. K, and in 2001, he directed Friend. It was a super hit film and created a huge record. Yu Oh-seong, Jang Dong-gun and Seo Tae-hwa are cast. In 2002, he directed Champion, featuring Yu Oh-Seong, Chae Min-Seo, and Yun Seung-won in the lead roles. This boxing film gained the attention of the audience and critics and grabbed him an award at the Philadelphia Film Festival.

Mutt Boy, in his direction released in 2003. It featured Jung Woo-sung, Uhm Ji-won, and Kim Kap-soo in the main cast. In 2005, he directed Typhoon with Jang Dong-gun, Lee Jung-Jae, and Lee Mi-Yeon, playing the lead roles. In 2007, he directed A Love featuring Joo Jin-mo and Park Si-Yeon. In 2008, Kwak directed Eye For An Eye featuring Han Suk-kyu and Cha Seung-won in main roles. Pained that released in 2011 had Kwon Sang-woo and Jung Ryeo-won in the lead roles.

In 2012, Kwak directed The Ugly Ducklin, and in 2013, he directed Friend: The Great Legacy. In 2015, he helmed The Classified File with Kim Yoon-Seok, Yoo Hae-jin, and Song Young-chang. In 2017, he directed Kim Rae-won, Kim Hae-sook, Sung Dong-il, and Jang Young-Nam in RV: Resurrected Victims. In 2019, Kwak’s The Battle of Jangsari was released and gained the audience's attention.
