Shivkumar Subramaniam is an Indian actor and writer. He is known for playing important roles in 1942: A love story, Kaminey and 2 States. He is also known in the television industry for a role played by him of a leading industrial tycoon in the Hindi serial on the Colors.
He is acting in films and serials from 1989. His first role was in 1989 in Parinda. In 90’s he did few other roles in films like Rakshak where he played the photographer’s role, Prahaar in which his character’s name was Khandagle and other side roles in Droh Kaal, 1942: A and Bombay Boys.
Other movies in which he acted in various roles from 2000 onwards were Ek Din 24 Ghante as Mr. Dutta, Vishal Bhardwaj’s film Kaminey as Lobo and also featured in Risk and Teen Patti.
The year 2011 added 2 more films to his kitty, which were critically acclaimed namely That Girl in Yellow Boots and
Stanley Ka Dabba
where he played the math teacher and 2 television series: Mukti Bandhan and Kismat where he played Mr. I M Virani and Mr. Vishwanathan, which were both very important roles and the actor got praised for his performances. His recent roles involve playing DCP Shivraman in Ungli and K. Kamraj in TV series Pradhanmantri.
Along with being an actor he also writes screenplays and has written 8 screenplays including Chameli (2003), Arjun Pandit (2005), Parinda (1989) for which he was also the assistant director and 1942: A Love Story (1994).
He also got nominated for Filmfare awards for best story for the screenplay of Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi.
