Bengali author Gajendra Kumar Mitra was born in India on November 11, 1908. He received the Bengali Sahitya Akademi Award for his book Kolkatar Kchhei (A Stone's Throw from Kolkata) in 1959. He was an accomplished writer. He produced numerous books, stories for children, plays, articles, and poems. Charles Dickens’s famous A Tale of Two Cities was one of Mitra's English books translated into Bengali. He used to use his left hand to write. His sincere passion and concern for Bengali literature inspired him to co-found the renowned Mitra and Ghosh Publishers. Mitra was a virgin. On March 9; 1934, Mr. Mitra and his buddy Sumathanath Ghosh founded Mitra & Ghosh Publishers. The Bangle (1939), Mariner Pare (1954), and Kathin Maya are among the works of Gajendra Kumar Mitra (1961).
