Asqar Naqvi is a vocalist who was the first person to introduce Soz Khwani, the Awadhi tradition of the song. He has performed in several folks and cultural gathering such as Jashn-e-Rekhta and is known wildly for his theme Battle of Karbala in Soz Khawani. The speciality of this music is that no instrument is used while performing. The song elucidates the grief and pain in the battle. A lawyer turned singer sings about the battle of Karabala and is widely appreciated by the folk artist.
Naqvi belongs to Mustafabad, Rae Bareli, who speaks about war, violence and, aristocrats through his song. He was trained for eight hours under Amit Mukherjee of Sangeet Research Academy. He grew up listening to the marsiyas, and similar songs played during the Moharram.
