Pramod Chandorkar

Pramod Chandorkar is a sound engineer who has worked some hit movies of Bollywood. He was born in Pune and had done his graduation in electrical engineering. But then after getting inspiration from Mr. Suren Akolkar, who taught him 'sound design' at his home, he had later stepped into audio and sound system business in cinema production.

He is working as a sound engineer since 1995. He has worked on various mega-hit albums recording and is an extremely qualified engineer who has excelled in all branches of audio ranging from music recording, live sound, film sound design and studio design systems.

Also, he has opened up a school in Mumbai at Bandra and runs an institution known as ‘The Indian Recording Arts Academy” where he is designated as Director of the school. The Academy promises to give placement to students in Yash Raj Studios and other film studios that are located in and around Mumbai.

He has an association with many leading sound recording studios in Mumbai. He recalls many times that he was literally a musician and even knew how to play Tabla, but he has never wanted to become a professional musician. So he had opted for sound design knowledge and felt this would be sufficient enough to get recognized in the music industry in Bollywood.

Thus he has mixed live and done sound design for singers like Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar even.  He was also performed in the back stage as FOH Mix engineer for Sonu Nigam Live Concert and has been traveling abroad with him and other playback singers for many musical programs.

He has received the Sound Design award from Zee Cine Awards for best sound recording in Yash Raj Film 'Hum Tum' and has received Palm Live Sound Awards for Sonu Nigam Live Concert. Some of the movies that he was associated with music department in films include box-office hits like Veer-Zaara and 'Aankhen'.

As a sound engineer, he was engaged in movies like 'Jal", Veer-Zaara, 'Santa Banta Pvt Ltd' and 'Singh Saab the Great’ etc. His association with hit movies like  ‘Rakht’, ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’,’ Jatra’,’ Zabardast’, ‘PK' are a milestone in the sound design process in Bollywood. Pramod has even worked with international artists for their albums and it includes For Brian Allan (UK), Jim Beans (USA), Chaka Khan (USA), Jermaine Jackson (USA).
