Vidushi Alamelu Mani is an Indian singer who predominantly works in the Hindi film industry. She was born on 4th October 1934 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The playback singer Hariharan is her son while her father Vardhan was a famous harmonium player. At a very young age, she started learning Carnatic music under H.A.S Mani, whom she later married. Her learning was disrupted when H.A.S Mani died but a year later she resumed her learning under T. Brinda who has been a follower of the Devdasi tradition of the Carnatic music. She is an expert in Padams and Javalis. Since 1968, she is an artist at All India Radio and Doordarshan. Also, she is a Carnatic music teacher who has taught over 1,000 students worldwide. Also she serves as the principal of the South Indian School of Music in Mumbai, which was founded by her husband H.A.S Mani. She has received many awards, including “Gurukripa Award” at the Shankar Mahadevan Academy and “Dronacharya Award”. In 2018, she was awarded the “
