Nirmalya Roy

Nirmalya Roy is an Indian playback singer, Music Director, and Composer. His mother, who recognized his musical talent and passion at inspired him to pursue it. His initial training in classical music was from Prof. Sunirmal Bhattacharya at Bishwa Bharati University. He was then trained in Khayal by the late Govinda Prasad Debnath, a disciple of Pandit Chinmoy Lahiri. Later, he came under the guidance of Pandit Amiya Ranjan Banerjee, a well-known vocalist of Vishnupur Gharana.

Nirmalya has attained top positions in different music competitions, including the All India Music Competition at Guwahati, Khayal at Rajya Sangeet Academy, and the Music India Competition of Ghazals and Golden Talent Contest sponsored by HMV (His Master's Voice). He took part in the Rajgir festival in 1997. In 2000, The Government of India rewarded him the National Scholarship for his exceptional performance. Nirmalya is also associated with Zee-TV in various roles. For example,  he was the title music composer and singer of the Bengali version of the famous program SaReGaMaPa.

Under the guidance of his Guru, Pandit Arun Bhaduri, Nirmalya became a Scholar at the renowned Sangeet Research Academy of Kolkata. His performances get telecasted on multiple Television Networks like E-TV, DD-7 Calcutta Doordarshan, Zee-TV, Tara-TV as well as on All India Radio. He has done quite some jingles for various TV channels and has mastered his artistry in Devotional, light classical, Ghazals, Hindi and Bengali film songs, Modern songs, etc. Nijere Harai, his first audio cassette, was nominated for Ananda Bazar Patrika’s Bengali Music Award in Ananda Purashkar.

He played back for The Final Exit, a Bollywood movie in 2017. He did playback singing for many Bengali films as well like, Guptodhoner Sondhane, Atta Ater Bonga Local, Durgeshgorer Guptodhon (Most Popular Movie 2019), Aborto, Golondaaj (Best Movie and Best Song 2021), Anuranan, and Jara bristite bhijechhilo. He has worked in many serials and telefilms. He has also sung numerous albums both nationally and internationally. He sang a song, Meluha, from the album Vayuputras, which was composed by Pt. He constantly performs on TV channels such as Tara TV, ZEE Bangla TV, Akash 8, E TV, Ruposhi Bangla, etc. He is the Judge, Mentor, and Music Director of Sa Ra Ga Ma Pa Zee TV Bangla reality show. He performed for the Bengal Global Business Summit 2016 with Pt Bickram Ghosh and Ustad Rashid Khan. In 2022, for the 73rd Republic Day celebration, he sang the title song of the Vande Bharatam Project.
