Sidharth Mathawan

Sidharth Mathawan is an Indian screenwriter, director, and production designer. He was born in Kashmir. He finished his school studies at Burn Hall School. Then, he pursued a Bachelor of Architecture degree at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi (1998 – 2004). In 2014, he attended screenwriting workshops at filmArche in Berlin. Sidharth Mathawan was an event designer for the book launch of “The Last Mughal” by William Dalrymple at the British Council in New Delhi in 2006. He was then assistant curator (Technical) for the Apeejay Media Gallery for over a year (Aug 2006 – Nov 2007).

He was also working as a scenographer & production designer at Sumant Jayakrishnan Design Pvt. Ltd (Mar 2006 – Sep 2008). Thereafter he engaged as a production coordinator for Goethe-Institut e.V. for four months (Sep 2008 – Dec 2008). He also became a chief architect at Studio BLOX for over four years (Feb 2005 – Oct 2009). He was a co-founder of aPROPAGANDA (Dec 2008 – Aug 2010). As an art director, Sidharth Mathawan has worked at Excel Entertainment (Berlin), Hamilton Mehta Productions Inc. (Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka), and Jet Tone Films. He has designed for over fifty brands, including BBC, NDTV, Google, Apple, Samsung, Vogue, Toyota, Vistara, Pepsi, Swarovski, etc. For production design, he is a Berlinale Talent 2010. He has designed interiors, art, theatre, fashion & music events as a senior designer. He worked as a photographer at Airbnb (Oct 2011 – Oct 2012) and as a freelance videographer at Getty Images (Apr 2015 – Nov 2016). He was a design consultant at Concordia for over five years (Mar 2009 – Sep 2014). Sidharth Mathawan’s screenplays have been selected & developed at various national and international script labs. His screenplay “Marie” (Khayali Pulao) was selected for authors' meetings by 'Maison Des Scenaristes' at Cannes, in 2018.

It was also further selected & developed at the prestigious TorinoFilmLab TFL Extended – Script Development in Italy in 2018. His other feature screenplay, "The Deleted," was also selected for TorinoFilmLab TFL Extended – Creative Production, Italy 2018. His drama “The Desire For Desires" was a world premiere in the In-Competition Shorts category at the ninth Annual Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF), Chicago 2018. He was a semi-finalist at the Filmeraa Shorts Awards and selected at First-Time Filmmaker Sessions, The Lift-Off Sessions Festivals 2018. His feature film “Gogji Bagh” (set in Kashmir) was selected & developed at Writers INK Film Screenwriting Class of 2023-24.
