Peter Mukerjea

Peter Mukerjea is a British television executive. Peter Mukerjea was born in the United Kingdom. From 1997 to 2007 he was CEO of STAR India. He left the company in 2009 and settled in Bristol. His father was a doctor. He graduated from Doon School in Dehradun, India in 1971. He went to college in the UK. He did evening classes to study business management. He has a younger brother named Gautam Mukerjea who runs a lifestyle magazine called Planet Goa. Peter married Shabnam Singh in May 1978. The couple has 2 sons, Rabin, born in 1980, and Rahul, born in 1982, before divorcing in 1994. Peter lived and worked in Mumbai while working for STAR India.

In 2005 Indrani introduced her children to her previous relationship, Sheena Bora and Mikhail Bora, to Peter as her younger siblings. In 2006 Sheena Bora went to live with them and registered at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai.

Peter Mukerjea began his marketing career with American food company Heinz and a British retailer of Storehouse plc in the United Kingdom. He has worked with Ogilvy & Mather Marketing Center as Account Manager in New Delhi and London followed by DDB Needham as Regional Account Manager for Hong Kong. In 1993 he joined STAR TV as a Marketing Director (India) in Hong Kong. He relocated to Mumbai shortly after joining the founding of the STAR TV advertising sales division in India. In 1997 he was promoted to Deputy President. In 1999 he became the Chief Executive Officer of STAR India and served in that capacity for 8 years.

Peter represents Star TV's interests as a member of the Board of Directors of ESPN STAR Sports, Hathway cable service operator, and Star News-affiliated Media Content and Communications Services (India). The terms of his resignation included a non-competitive clause that barred him from joining a competing broadcasting service. Peter took on the role of chairman of Indrani Mukerjea's labor company, INX Services Pvt. Ltd.

After the expiration of the non-competitive clause in July 2007, Peter joined INX Media, where he took on the role of a chief strategic officer. He resigned in 2009. In May 2011, he resigned from the company's board of directors. Peter has resigned as a director at INX Executive Search Private Limited. He is an angel investor in Kratos, a much-needed digital marketing platform.
