B Chintu Mohapatra, nicknamed as Chintu, was born on 4th January 1957 and his home town is Bolangir, Orissa, India.

He is the son of Kapileshwar Prasad and Vishnupriya Mohapatra. Kapileshwar Prasad, born on 7th August 1931, in a lower-middle class family, was a government teacher. After his voluntarily retirement Mr. Kapileshwar worked on his dream in a small village called Lehdi on the bank of river Mahanadi. His dream was to change the face of western Orissa. All his six sons live in a joint family in Mumbai, sharing a single kitchen and establishing a rare bond of a joint family. Mr. Kapileshwar was awarded as the best social worker in Sonepur district on the eve of Republic day. The family worked together in Hindi telefilms- Suryamukhi, Pabli, Pratisodh, which also got telecasted on Doordarshan. Kapileshwar Prasad is the writer pf these and directed by Chintu's eldest brother Sabyachi Mohapatra who is an internationally famed director. He has also established Chetana Trust. Gradually, Chintu Mohapatra and his family in the guidance of his father changed the entire scenario of the western Orissa. They have established numerous health centers and education centers like- Gangadhar Charitable Hospital, an old age home, a free computer education facility, 35 rural coaching center known as Chetana Centers, a library and two residential schools under Chetana Trust in different parts of Birmaharajpur. B. Mohapatra is currently living in Mumbai, India. He went to P. R High School, Bolangir, in 1974. Chintu Mohapatra completed his B. A in 1978 from G. M. E college, Sambalpur, Orissa. He opted for Law in 1979 from L.R Law UG, Sambalpur, Orissa and passed out while working at a bank in 1982. He is married to Sipra Mohapatra. He worked as an Assistant Director in the movie Agneepath in the name of Dharma productions, and at Madras Talkies. Kharabela Mohapatra also worked as Director at Karmik pictures.
