Ashok Pandey is an Indian Producer. He is known for his movies ‘Phas Gaya Re Obama’ and ‘Saare Jahan Se Mehenga’. He is one of the producers who tried to inculcate real life problems in his work and doesn't believe in unrealistic cinema. He makes movies in Hindi language only. He co-owns production company ‘Revel Films’ along with Pragati Pandey. He is also one of the few producers who makes it a point to work with budding directors. He thinks that it is easy to work with established talent but very hard to hunt and nourish a new one. Ashok completed his Bachelor’s in Technology degree in the subject of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the esteemed institution of BITS, Pilani.

He later did his Master’s in Science in the subject of Computer Science from CCNY, New York. Furthermore, he is the founder of a US based company called Intelligroup Inc. He has an extensive experience in marketing and is a strategic planner of business, and hence is a huge reason behind Revel’s achieved success. Ashok Pandey produces under the banner of Revel Films. It is an entertainment based production company which was founded in the year 2009 by its current owners - Ashok Pandey and Pragati Pandey. They believe in making sensible yet entertaining flicks. They ventured into this business with a short film called ‘An Expression’ which was followed by a few feature films.

All its projects are liked by both critics and audiences. The first feature film produced by Ashok Pandey was ‘Phas Gaya Re Obama’. It was a satire which was directed by Subhash Kapoor. The main cast of the flick included Neha Dhupia, Rajat Kapoor, Sanjay Mishra, Amole Gupta and Manu Rishi. The flick was released on the 3rd of December in the year 2010. It was produced under the banner of Revel and distributed by Warner Bros. The plot of the film is a satirical comedy based on the recession or meltdown of the economy which originated in the United States. The film received positive responses and was also remade in Telugu. The Telugu remake was named Shankaraabharanam. ‘Saare Jahan Se Mehenga’ is another flick produced by Ashok Pandey.

It is also a Bollywood satire. Directed by Anshul Sharma, it had Sanjay Mishra, and Pragati Pandey in the lead roles. Ashok Pandey has focused on the topic of inflation and rising prices in India through this film. Like any other Ashok Pandey film, the movie was high on content and easily relatable by any common man in India.

Vivek Rangachari

Vivek Rangachari is an investment banker who set up the production house DAR Motion Pictures in the year 2009. It was a part of the group headed by his brother, Arun Rangachari– DAR Capital Group. Arun heads the group from Dubai. Vivek Rangchari completed his Master’s degree in Business Applications from INSEAD which is situated in France and worked in the Middle East for a short period. Following this, he moved to Mumbai and raised a fund of 50 million dollars which was invested in media space. Vivek started DAR as a mini studio with an aim to develop new audiences in the mainstream cinema which is also commercially viable. He has produced thirteen films so far including Mickey Virus, D-day, The Lunchbox, Peddlers, and Ugly. Vivek Rangachari is the Business Head of DAR investments. He is also the Commissioning Producer at the DAR Capital Group. He has an experience of over ten years in the Middle East and also across India. Using his knowledge efficiently, he has credited multiple financial innovations. Before starting to work at DAR Production House, he used to work at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as a Senior System Analyst. He has also served as an Investment Analyst at the Abu Dhabi Investment House. Vivek has been previously involved in a dangerous controversy. While DAR Motion Pictures was planning to make a flick based on ‘The Bikini Murders' which was supposed to be based on the life of Johnson Thhat, a serial killer named Charles Sobhraj threatened Vivek as he thought the movie was based on his life. Whereas this wasn’t the case, the movie was based on the book ‘The Bikini Murders’ which was written by Farrukh Dhondy. However, Vivek said that he wasn’t afraid of the allegation as the book is already written and he has the rights of the book. Vivek doesn't want to keep his production company limited to Hindi cinema. He already makes Marathi movies and is now planning on venturing into the Tamil film industry. He also plans on making one Hollywood movie every year. Till date, the most popular movie under the production of Vivek Rangachari has been ‘The Lunchbox’.
