Roshni Baptist is a playback singer based out of Mumbai. She is a versatile singer who adapts easily to different genres, be it pop, rock, or contemporary. Roshni used to sing in church choirs and at the annual functions of schools. Back in the nineties, she was a part of the local band named Fire and Ice. She used to perform at different places without informing her father. Later, when her father came to know about her whereabouts, she was told to leave her passion and settle for a nine to five job. Roshni had no choice. She took up a job to fulfill her father’s wishes.
But her love for singing never left her. In 2012, she decided to give the last shot for her passion for singing and flew down to India. She started working on her project and wrote her first song, ‘Someone New’, with the help of renowned singer Nikhil D’Souza who was also from Mumbai. She then met Jose Neil Gomes Jose Neil Gomes is mostly known by his name Neil G >> Read More... , and together, they worked on the lyrics and composition of the songs. She even collaborated with other artists and would be involved in the gigs show that took place in the city. Once she was done with her acoustic setup, Roshni started doing live shows in and around Mumbai with her team.
She came into notice when Yashraj Studios called her for the songwriting camp. She has been a playback singer for movies like O Teri and Murder 2. She has also been a part of Bengali and Telugu films, namely Action and Thoofan. Roshni has released a few solo albums like ‘Butterfly’ and ‘Never Wanted You.’ Her album ‘People Always Leave’ talks about her best friend who was there by her side when others had left her. Similarly, ‘Why Worry’ talks about an individual’s lifestyle in a new city. Roshni has also released her self-composed album ‘Unbound’ which has a flavor of the songs that she used to hear on the country side.
