Nirmala Devi was an Indian actress and a Hindustani classical vocalist of the Patiala Gharana. She was also known as Nirmala Arun. Nirmala Devi was born on June 7, 1927, and her place of birth is Benares, Benares State, British India (Now, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh). According to the astrologer, Nirmala Devi’s star sign was Cancer. She belonged to a wealthy business family. Nirmala Devi’s parents were Vasudev Narayan Singh and Kusum Devi. The songs credited as Nirmala Devi are Bawarchi (1972), Zara Bachke (1959), Shama Parwana (1954), and Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985). Her singles include “Banaa Banaa Ke Tamanaa & Gham Ki Nishani” (Ghazal) and “Jaadu Bhare Tore Nainava Ram & Mori Baali Umar Beeti Jaye” (Thumri). She had sung for almost 60 film songs. She was able to expand her voice to all three octaves of music very quickly, which is rare for singers. Her LP record of light classical melodies, “Weekend Pleasure,” was a massive success.
During the period of her marriage, she marked her acting debut in the Hindi film “Saver,” with husband Arun Ahuja as co-star, and directed by V. C. Desai in 1942.
