Kalpana Pandit is a famous Indian model, film actress, producer and an emergency physician by profession. She was born in year 1968 and she is the granddaughter of Bhishagratna Ayurveda Vidwan Sri B. V. Pandit, an Ayurvedic physician.
After obtaining a degree in Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), she took Doctor of Medicine (MD) in USA. Initially, she worked as a television commercial model for popular brands like Wheel Detergent Powder, Nyle, Mysore Sandal Talc, Ranipal Stain Remover, Sirtex and more.
She was debuted as an actress in M. F. Husain’s Bollywood film, Gaja Gamini in year 2000. In the following year, she was featured in Ashok Mehta’s film, Moksha in the year 2001. She did a dance number in the film to the tune of Jaan Keva, which became a blockbuster and was still remembered even until today.
Kalpana made a special appearance in a track entitled Meri Jawani for the Bollywood film, Pitaah in the year 2002. She was also seen in Sanjay Jha’s Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye and made another special appearance in the Bollywood action film, Om in 2003. In the same year, she acted in the Hindi romance film, Pyaar Kiya Nahin Jaatha. In the year 2004, she made a special appearance in the Telugu film, Anandamanandamaye.
She was also seen as a supermodel in the Bollywood comedy film, Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav and in Deha in 2007. In 2009, Kalpana acted in Anubhav, alongside
Rakesh Bedi and
Shruti Seth. Later, she acted in the romantic comedy film, Love Khichdi.
'She turned producer in a Kannada film entitled Jo Jo Laali in 2010, where she bagged the Best Actress Kannada award at the South Indian Mega Short Film Festival Bangalore in 2011 and the Best Actress award at the Bangalore Short Films Festivals in 2013. This is the first time that her own production house called House of Pandits has produced a film.
In the year 2012, she was starred in the Tamil action film, Panithuli along with
Ganesh Venkatraman and Shobana in the lead roles. In the same year, she was seen in the Hindi romantic thriller film, Janleva 555, which was produced under her own production banner. She made her debut in the American acting field through a short film entitled The Chinaman in 2013 and
Tum Ho Yaara in 2014, which she also co-produced.
Kalpana has been a jury in several events in US including the Miss International 2011, which was held in New Jersey, the Mrs. America 2012 held in Arizona and the Mrs. World 2013 in China. She has been a judge in the dance competition, Naach Revolution in the year 2013 in New Jersey.
