Vivaan Shah completed most of his formal education from The Doon School, Dehradun. He had graduated from school, in the year 2009. He has a major in English Literature and History from Jai Hind College. He was very reluctant about joining films, as he did not want to do what was expected from him. He wanted to do something different, which was more academic and research oriented. But he changed his goals once he met director Vishal Bhardwaj.
