Dina Pathak or Deena Pathak was Indian film actor, veteran actor and Gujarati theatre director. She was born on 4 March 1922 in Amreli, Gujarat. She studied in Bombay College where she became the part of student activism. That was the time when Bahavai theater was widely used to create sense and awareness about rule of Britain and from here she became the source of reviving Gujarati theatre. Later, she has joined as an actress the Indian National Theater. She married to Baldev Pathak with two daughters Patna Pathak and Supriya Pathak.
She started acting in different plays from her teenage and received ramble reviews of many critics. She remained woman activist for a long time and was also the President of National Federation of Indian Women. She ruled Indian film industry for more than six decades and worked in more than 120 movies. Her famous Gujarati films include Bhavni Bhavi, Malela Jeev and Moti Ba while her notable plays were Doll’s House, Girish Karnad’s Hayavadana and Dinglegar.

She made her debut with Gujarati film Kariyawar but she joined back theatre after doing just one film. After many years, she returned to films and acted in Uski Kahani, Saat Hindustan, The Guru and Satyakam. It is solely due to these movies that she is still considered the Grand Old mother of Hindi movies. She has also acted in Indian comedy movies Gol Maal (1979) and Bollywood/Hollywood. She died on 11 October 2002 in Bombay.
