Shayan Munshi is an Indian actor and former model who hails from Kolkata, West Bengal. He comes from an affluent family of doctors. Shayan is the grandson of Lt. Dr. Nihar Munshi, a prominent ophthalmologist of our country and the son of Dr. Prashant Munshi. He is a pass out from Don Bosco School, Kolkata. He made his debut in Bollywood with the film Jhankaar Beats, which is about the lives of three aspiring musicians, which did moderately at the box office but made him earn popularity and fans for sure.

The cute and charming Shayan Munshi was looking forward to a bright career. He also appeared in cameo appearances in various movies later, Ahista Ahista, which is about a man who acts as a witness for couples who wish to marry and how he falls in love with one of his customers, My Brother…Nikhil, which revolves around the life of a national swimmer who learns that he has AIDS, Home Delivery: Aapko..Ghar Tak, which is about a writer who believes that all he has achieved in his life is because of himself and no one else and Mausam, which is a love story of two people from different religions. He acted in two award-winning films, Bong Connection in which his love interest Peeya Rai Chowdhury was his co-star, and the other movie was Carnival. He got married to Peeya Rai Chowdhury in 2006, of Bride and Prejudice fame, however, the two split after four years of their marriage, maybe because of their failed careers or because of the controversy that Shayan Munshi got caught in. He could have had a bright career and a comfortable life had he not been a witness to the infamous Jessica Lal Jessica Lal was an Indian model, whose brutal murd >> Read More... murder and succumbed to the pressure around.

Shayan Munshi was the sole witness to one of most shocking murders, the one who filed the complaint and even identified Manu Sharma. However, later he turned hostile by saying that he couldn’t converse, read or write in Hindi and only understood Bengali. He was exposed later by a leading magazine through a sting operation, and that ruined his life, maybe forever. Ironically, he is more known for this controversy and for being the ‘hostile witness’ instead of his films, even those which did well. He now faces a case of perjury related to the same incident. He drew a lot of criticism and flak for his hostility and even refused to watch the film ‘No One Killed Jessica’ which is based on the Jessica Lal murder case.
