Dilip Dhawan was born in 1955 to late
Krishan Dhawan and Munni Dhawan.
Anil Dhawan and
David Dhawan are his brothers. Dilip started his venture in the industry as a child actor in " Sangharsh", released in 1968, starring
Dilip Kumar as the main lead. He started as an actor in "Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan" as the lead. The movie was directed by
Saeed Akhtar Mirza, and the co-actors were Anjali Paigankar,
Om Puri, and Sriram Lagoo. The movie was awarded as the best movie at the 1979 Filmfare Awards. His first movie as a producer was "Saath Saath" directed by Raman Kumar.
His movie list as an actor consists of names such as- "Ek Baar Kaho", "Sazaye Maut" as Anil Suri, "Aagman". Then, "Meri Kahani", "Bade Dilwala" as Dr. Ali Khan, and in "Do Gulaab", "Pratibha", "Saaheb" from 1980 till 1985. There after he has been famous as ' Guru' in the fame world because of his role in one of the daily soaps, "
Nukkad". After this show and his image in the series, he became a kind of judge among the artists. Any problem among the actors or related to any other issues was presented to him, and he used to solve them with a final decision and everyone had to agree with his decisions without any other option. This television show was telecasted from 1986 to 1987.
After this series, Dilip's life became a bit miserable, but he never gave up and tried to keep on working as much as possible. He tried so many phases in the industry as a writer, reader, actor and much more. He starred in ads too after some time. He had many releases after "Nukkad" also, but in most of them, he acted in a side role only. We lost such a great personality of the industry on 15th February 2000 due to a heart attack in Mumbai, at the age of 45. "Kabhi Paas Kabhi Fail, "Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United,"Rasmon Ki Zanjeer" and "Raja Ko Rani Se Pyaar Ho Gaya" were his last releases in the year of 1999 and 2000.
