Shailendra Singh Sodhi

Shailendra Singh Sodhi famously known as Shelle, is an Indian Lyricist in Bollywood born in Ambala. He is the son of a renowned poet-writer Himmat Singh Sodhi. He was naturally attracted to verses, stories and literary works from a young age. He sought after theater from Ambala Cantt and Punjab University, and in 1995 moved to Mumbai to help Gulzar. He was asked to act in "Gulzar, but he lacked confidence, and chose to direct it. He moved forward and backward to Mumbai for a long time, doing apparition composing, interpretations for stations like Discovery, writing for shows like "Surbhi', notwithstanding being a Censor Board. In 2008, his life changed when he got the opportunity to write the most dangerous tunes for Anurag Kashyap's interpretation of "Dev D" starring Abhay Deol. He gave the world particular words such as "Bhantadaar", and never heard expressions like ' khushiyon ki khatiyaa, feem daa nashaa tere nainaa vich jee, ankhiyaan dunaali’ and so forth. His Gritty and folksy words reconnected the people with their foundation and acquired all the more energizing work. Soon, he was recognized for his own unique style by displaying his talents through his tunes in movies such as "Shahid" directed by Hansal Mehta, "Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana" directed by Sameer Sharma and so on. He also gave songs for Michael Winterbottom's traverse movie "Trishna" which is inspired from "Tess" by Thomas Hardy and has not been released in India. He wound up practicing his 'right to speak freely' through verse, which transformed into tunes for non-mainstream groups. His songs like "Dhol Yaara Dhol", "Khari", "Bari" for Coke Studio/ Amit Trivedi, Sadnaa and "Ranjhan Yaar Di" for Agnee and "Ittra" for Neel Sarkar Project have been a hit with music lovers. Songwriting is part of his work, whereas he is more into photography, traveling and is also writing two scripts and completing a narrative on Hakka Chinese people group in Kolkata. In spite of the fact that he has worked together a great deal with Amit Trivedi, Shellee doesn't have confidence in camps, flounders at advertising and falls flat at systems administration. In any case, when required, he shows solidarity, and now is supporting lyricists and writers in their battle for eminences and better pays. Shellee is a lyricist who collects world silver screen. He is also a voracious reader who still scribbles down each word on paper and gets a high from narrating.
