Javed Anand is a journalist by profession. He is of Indian origin. He was born in the middle of 20th century, that is, in the year, 1950. He was born in a middle-class Muslim family. He has done his graduation in Metallurgy Engineering from the Indian Institute Of Technology, Mumbai in 1971. During his education, he worked for a social action group known as Rapid Economic Development of India. After his education, he became the writer of a newspaper, ‘The Daily’ in Mumbai in 1971.

In 1983, Teesta Setalvad also joined ‘The Daily’ newspaper, where she met Javed Anand. After four years that is in 1987, Javed Anand got married to Teesta Setalvad, a girl from a Gujarati family. Teesta Setalvad is also a journalist by profession. She is also the secretary of an organization named, Citizens of Justice and Peace. This couple has two children, son Jibran Anand and daughter Tamara Anand.FromDecember 1992-January 1993, Bombay riots took place in Mumbai, in which nearly 900 people died. And in the same period that is in December 1993, the destruction of Babri Mosque took place. Due to these two incidents, Javed with his wife left their jobs and launched a monthly magazine to fight against these riots and named the magazine as ‘Communalism Combat.’

This magazine came out in mid-1993. For the revenue to maintain Communalism Combat, he started Sabrang Communication and Publishing Pvt Ltd to do some professional assignment. In 2003, Anand talked about his decision in an interview “We (he and his wife) felt that at Business India and Sunday Observer, we could only be doing full-time Journalism and not be fully involved with what was burning us up.” Javed Anand is the founding member of an organization named as Citizen for Justice and Peace, and his wife was the secretary of the same organization. In 2003, the first National Meeting of ‘Muslim for Secular Democracy’ took place and Javed Anand was the participant of the same. And in the same meeting, Javed Anand was selected as General Secretary of that group.

Till 2011, Javed Anand was the General Secretary of that group. In January 2014, Javed Anand and his team were blamed for the misuse of the funds of Rs. 15 million which they had collected for the construction of Gulbarg Society’s Museum to construct the Monument for Riot Victims. The Crime Branch of Ahmedabad had firstly registered a report against JavedAnand and his team. Their bail was not granted by Local Court of Ahmedabad and Gujarat High Court in March 2014 and February 2015 respectively. Then Supreme Court passed the stay to arrest Javed Anand and his wife.

Inder Malhotra

Inder Malhotra was an Indian author, an editor and a journalist. The veteran editor worked for some of leading Indian newspaper; he worked as a resident editor for The Statesman for five years and as an Indian correspondent for The Guardian for twelve years. Inder also worked as the editor in chief for The Time of India. He took birth in Chandigarh, India in the year 1930. Inder had reserved columns in the leading newspapers of the country. As an author, he wrote the personal biography of Indira Gandhi in the year 1991; he also authored three other books. He took his last breath on 11th June 2016. He took birth in Chandigarh, India in the year 1930. He was married to Rekha Malhotra; his wife was a classical dancer who did international tours with her dance group. She passed away at the age of 81 in 2007. Rekha and Inder have a son Anil Rewari; he is a painter. Inder went to Punjab, University for graduation in Journalism and after that; he started his career like most other journalists. He became a junior reporter in Delhi at the United Press of India. Those were the times of independence and Inder slowly climbed his way; his years in reporting honed his eye for detail in an affable manner. In 1965, he joined as an Indian correspondent for the international newspaper, The Guardian. His style and sharp memory for detailed helped him write for the prestigious daily. He wrote for the Guardian from 1965 to 1978. Besides writing for The Guarding, Inder also acted as the resident editor for the Indian newspaper The Statesman. He took the position in late 60’ and continued for almost five years until he became the editor for The Time of India in 1978. Inder continued to contribute for the newspaper for eight years; he resigned in 1986. In 1987, he got honored with the Nehru fellowship followed by Woodrow Wilson fellowship in 1991. Inder wrote the personal biography of Indira Gandhi in the year 1989, he also went on to write books like India, trapped in uncertainty and Dynasties of India and beyond. Inder had reserved columns in different newspapers. In 2013, he received the Lifetime Achievement Ramnath Goenka Award; he took his last breath on 11th June 2016 in Delhi.


Nidhi Razdan

Nidhi Razdan is a television personality as well as an Indian journalist. She started her career as an anchor for the channel NDTV 24*7 news show Left, Right and Centre. The show is usually a live broadcast which is captured from New Delhi Studio from every evening which consists of discussions debates and breaking news stories and headlines. She started her career in 1999. She participated in news reading activities at NDTV, and also hosted several shows and the events mostly she used to host the live telecasting shows and her area of interest in coverage of news includes economic, political top stories of Indian subcontinent. She is the Editor of English language television that is broadcasted by New Delhi Television limited which only features news and current affairs of India. Nidhi completed her schooling at Apeejay School in Sheikh Sarai, New Delhi. She completed her graduation from Lady Shri Ram College for women. Later on, she completed her post graduation diploma in radio and television journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass communication during the year 1998 to 1999. In 2005, Nidhi married Nilesh Mishra who is a well-known journalist as well as a writer. Nilesh Mishra is not only, and journalist has also worked as a Bollywood director, lyrist, photographer, and scriptwriter. He has written several books in the category of both fiction and non-fiction. He received several awards Like Nidhi for his excellence in journalism. In 2007 after the two years of married life, the couple got divorced. In 1999 Nidhi joined NDTV as a journalist and Anchor. After that, she had hosted several shows such as India decade @ 9, the lead, left, right, and Centre- which is a variety Talk Show, NDTV 24*7 and Prime Time news. She has received many awards for her outstanding performance in journalism some of which include teacher's achievement award for electronic journalism from the communication department in 2011. She also received the Ramnath Goenka award as well as The Jammu and Kashmir state government award for her outstanding performance in journalism. Her contribution to NDTV helped it to achieve the award for best English news channel in the Asia in 2005 From Asian television awards and in 2006 NDTV was nominated as the best English news channel from the Indian Television Academy Awards.
