She was the first Indian actress who was nominated for best actress at the 12th British Academy Film Awards (1959). Having grown up in such a family, one is bound to take interest in films. Trisha Ray is thus no exception. Although her family wanted her to become a doctor, she decided to be part of film and TV media.

At present, she is an independent producer, screenwriter, filmmaker, actor, editor, and charcoal artist. Trisha grew up in a family where her father used to participate in play-acting at home, and she would then love to rehearse the missing lines of the actors. This was her first tutorial into acting. But then she moved to California and worked at a printing press. She is also the first member of her family to give up education to pursue her career in films. Later, she was hired by a TV network as an in-house producer.

She had the privilege of doing an internship for various production companies and learned every aspect of film production from being on set as a runner or production assistant, or editor. Thus, she has every knowledge of the sound department, cinematography, editing, casting, writing, acting, and can even help the film crew as a production designer too.

She was the producer of the short film ('Soul Smoke' and 'Bleep Love'). She was the director of the short film 'A Federal case; (2008) which had story and screenplay by Brian Stewart. It was a story of a young teenage couple and their struggle with an unwanted pregnancy. It was her first film as a director. The film was produced by San Banarje. Later on., she had partnered with San Banarje and have made films like 'Bodhisattva' (2010) with Bengali thespian Soumitra Chatterjee, Biswajit Chakraborty.

In this film, Trisha Ray also acted and assisted San in screenplay and story department. It is a story of a girl who is unable to forgive her father for her mother’s suicide. She was also the producer of another short film ' Inside Out Click to look into! >> Read More... ' (2011). Her other short films include 'Physiotherapy' (director, writer) and ' Semper Fi Click to look into! >> Read More... ' (producer). In 2013, she co-produced, edited and did the casting for the film 'Sex, Marriage and Infidelity' for debuting director-writer Richard Finger.

She is also the director, editor, producer, casting director for a feature film 'A Curry On American Plate' which was ‘A Lake Camp Productions’ and ‘Next Actor Studio film.’ This movie was screened at different film festivals before release. The subject of this movie features around the Indian community in the USA.

Trisha is well known for directing an independent feature film ‘Orphan Train' which stars Bollywood actress Mahie Gill who featured in Anurag Kashyap's film 'Dev D.' 'Orphan Train' was shot in a mix of three languages, Hindi, English, and Spanish. This film has a screenplay by Arizona-based writer Brian Stewart. She is still partnering with San Banarje in film production and will be soon getting involved in two more projects like 'Animal Instinct' ( San Banarje is the director) and '6 Rounds of Chloe’ (2018) for which Trisha is the director.
