She is notably known for A Suitable Girl (2017), Tana Bana (2015), and No Beast So Fierce (2016). She completed her MFA in Film Directing at NYU’s Tisch School of Arts (2013). She was given the NYU Graduate Production Award for her film Noor. She also received the Paulette Godard Scholarship consecutively for two years. She developed a Cannes Residence du Festival shortlisted political thriller in 2012. She also has experience working as a Creative Producer at NBC Universal (2017-2018). She has worked as a Visiting Assistant Arts Professor at New York University since 2019.
Along with a partner, she founded a film production company called Lucky Coconut Pictures, based in New York and New Delhi. Many of her short films have been screened at film festivals like Tribeca Film Festival, Palm Springs International Film Festival, SXSW, VIFF, etc. And her short documentaries have been nominated for several journalism awards, including The Webby Awards (2017). She was the cinematographer for a Pat Murphy (a renowned feminist filmmaker) directed film, and one of her documentaries also won the Albert Maysles Award (2017). Shivani worked on the script of a short film named Maya, which was later developed into a movie. Besides filmmaking, she has also worked on numerous brand content and commercials with the biggest production houses in New York, like McGuffin Films, Homestead Editorial, etc. She is also working on a feature film titled ‘After She Died’.
