Prabhakar Sharan is an Actor, Director, and Producer. He is the first Indian Latin American who worked in both Bollywood and Latin American films. He was the first Indian citizen to direct and act as a lead in a Spanish feature film. He was also the first person to introduce Bollywood movies in Central American countries.
Born in Motihari, Bihar, on 22nd February 1980, Sharan went to Universidad Panamericana, Costa Rica, to pursue his studies in the year 2000. After he completed his studies, he started a chain of Indian clothing and restaurants. In 2010, he became a board member of the same university where he went to study.
He made the first Indian Latin American movie called Enredados La Confusion in 2017. The film was shot in India, Costa Rica and Panama with more than 1200 artists from India as well as Latin America. It was made under the banner of Pacific Investment Corporation. It was promoted by the Indian embassy of Panama, Costa Rica, Salvador, Nicaragua, Peru, the United States, and Guatemala. This film opened many opportunities for business between India and Central American countries as it gave rise to an entire industry. He won many awards as Best Actor, Best Debut Director, Best Film in the US, and International prestigious film festivals, and government organizations.
The film released in Hindi and Bhojpuri in 2019 with the name 1 Chor, 2 Mastikhor. The film stars Prabhakar Sharan, Nancy Dobles, Mario Chacon, Jose Castro, and Scott Steiner. His film won the Best Foreign Film at Jharkhand Film Festival in 2018.
In 2016, he was awarded by Mayor of California for his contribution towards the Indian community. He was also elected as treasurer of the World Kabaddi Organization for developing Kabaddi in Latin America. He was also awarded a Humanitarian Award for his contribution to Indian culture and cinema in Latin America.
