Jayrajsinh Chavda is a filmmaker, VJ, and multidisciplinary artist based in Goa, India. He completed his schooling at the Diwan Ballubhai School. After that, he studied Bachelor in Performing Arts in Drama and Theatre. He started his career in 2008 as a Creative Producer at All India Radio, where he wrote scripts for all categories of programmes and edited the material for the broadcast. He also maintained catalogs of scripts and background material for reference, etc. He was also responsible for assisting supervisory staff in auditioning of music artists and drama voices.
After that, Chavda became the theatre director at the Acktor's Theatre in Ahmedabad and wrote, directed, and designed plays with other members of a theatre company. He also served as the founder and president of Short Cinema - The Film Society from March 2010 to 2011. The major objective of the society was to provide an opportunity and a venue for established and aspiring filmmakers in India to connect with the mentors, volunteers, actors, professionals, funders, suppliers, presenters, distributors, and sponsors who make quality films. As a president, he made two short films with the society.
One was called ‘I AM WOMAN,’ which was aimed at raising awareness about domestic violence, and it was directed and produced by Bansari Kamdar. The other film was called Footpath, which was also selected for Hotshort Film Festival. After that, Chavda shifted to video editing and worked as a video editor with a couple of firms, such as Sarjan Setu, Vipul Sharma Productions, Smart Graph Art Advertising Private Limited, Markcom Solutions Private Limited, and others. In January 2008, Chavda decided to work as an independent filmmaker and began to be known as One Man Army for his multiple skills.
He got associated with the organizing committee of the Ahmedabad National Book Fair to organize the Sartori event in 2013. He also worked on the trailer of the Rainbow Music Festival in 2015. As a Visual Artist, Chavda started the VJ Alchemist, which aims to inspire, inform, and entertain people of all ages with positive, enriching, and uplifting visual and sonic experiences. Through the magic of immersive sight and sound technologies, he creates an audio-visual installation that would take participants on a journey through a series of imaginary environments by immersing them in multi-channel audio soundscapes with supporting visuals. For this purpose, he uses a variety of media, including film, video, music, live visuals, photography, and digital painting.Â
In 2007, Chavda founded Joy Entertainment, an independent film production company with a vision to create meaningful, unique, and thought-provoking cinema suitable for worldwide audiences. The company creates a range of short films, music videos, web content, long-format documentaries, short format shows for the internet, and documents live music performances and music festivals across the country and other parts of the world. Some of the significant projects of the company include the Colouburst Festival, the Trailer of the Rainbow Rising Festival, the Heritage Film Festival Promo, etc.Â
Over the years, Chavda has excelled as an actor, writer, director, cinematographer, sound designer, music producer, VJ, and post-producer. At the age of 13, he got recognition as the ‘Youngest Filmmaker’ by the Chief Minister, a felicitation initiated by the Government of Gujarat. He has directed various short films, and documentaries and has shot around seventy-five music film festivals all around the world. Moreover, he is highly skilled in video editing, film editing, advertising, voice-over, creative direction, songwriting, sound designing, cinematography, animation, etc.Â
