Chaitanya Kumbhakonum is an Indian director and writer who gave his debut with the television series Permanent Roommates (2014). It is one of the highest-rated Indian series. Born and brought up in Karnataka, India, Chaitanya, from the age of sixteen, developed an interest in filmmaking. He completed his under graduation in marketing at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College and enrolled in Media and Entertainment program at Manipal University. Furthermore, out of interest in movies, Chaitanya did a course at Whistling Woods International, a film, communication and creative arts institute located in Mumbai, India.

He soon understood his passion for creating content and quit the apprenticeship after four months. In 2015, he joined The Viral Fever (TVF), an online YouTube channel, and started working as assistant director for the digital content. Chaitanya served as the second director in the series Pitchers (2015). Then, he worked as the first director of the popular show Permanent Roommates (Season two).

Throughout his tenure as AD, Chaitanya has handled an entire team on the set and has been part of the writing process of shows like 'Bisht Please,' produced by TVF. In 2019, he directed the web series 'Cubicles.' It gathered rave reviews from the viewers for its depiction of problems faced by a first jobber.
