Bikas Ranjan Mishra is a filmmaker and a screenwriter, an infamous director in the domain of short films. He pursued his postgraduate degree in Mass Communication from the Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC), Jamia, Delhi. He is presently based in Mumbai for work purposes. The renowned short-film filmmaker has bagged several national and international awards for his works from across the globe. 'Naach Ganesh', one of his pronounced works, which loosely translates to 'Dance of Ganesh', has been screened on prestigious platforms of Clermont Ferrand (France), Busan (South Korea), Rotterdam (the Netherlands), and Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (Los Angeles). Mishra directed his first feature film, namely Chauranga, which released in January 2016. It pleased the panel at the IFFLA, leading him to win the Grand Jury Prize at the festival. The film also bagged the title of 'Best Indian Feature' at the Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI).
The versatile director adapted Badal Sarkar's classic play 'Pagla Ghoda' and directed it for the OTT platform of HotStar. 'Guy in the Sky' (2017), the popular web-feature film is a work of Mishra that received immense appreciation from its audiences. Mishra was invited by the Cannes Film Festival (2012) for the Visionary Jury of Critics Week. He is a fellow of Film Independent at the Global Media Makers. Mishra is presently working on his next feature work which is supported by the Hubert Bals Fund of the Internal Film Festival Rotterdam.
