He acquired his master’s degree at Ness Wadia College and was an alumnus of ‘Film and Television Institute of India (FTTI),’ located in Pune. In 1994, Atanu Biswas Directed his very first movie, ‘a little war’, 35mm, 32min, in Hindi, which was about the importance of a relationship between two people in pursuit of their ambitions in life.

This acquired extensive consideration and acknowledgment throughout the Nation. For this, he had received ‘The Rajat Kamal National Award’ in the category of 'Best First Non-Feature Film of a Director'. With his vast knowledge and expertise in film direction, he didn’t limit his achievements to a particular genre but made numerous benefactions in different fields. He directed the first comedy-cookery show in India for SAB TV with the name ‘Mr aur Mrs. Verma Ki Rasoi,’ a travel show for Doordarshan. Atanu Biswas was the Dean and Founder of ‘MONttAGE Film & Television Academy’. He directed short films for Rajshri for their portal and also worked with the programming division of the In-Mumbai Channel. Besides his efforts in the Film Industry, on 15th June 2016, he published a Novel, ‘Antidote,’ in both Hindi and English formats. The response to this thriller drama about life and death attained encaptivating response.
