Actor and director Shashi Ranjan has many movies to his credit. Debuting with ‘Prem Geet’ as an actor in 1981, he started his journey in the cinema industry. His interest in acting and theater was from his youth days, and the inclination was evident. Having the talent that is needed to survive in this industry, he decided to direct movies and he did so with ‘Siyasat’, in 1992. After this film, there followed a couple of movies like ‘Dobara’, ‘Mungilal Rocks’, and so on.
But his interest towards television series was such that he started producing the shows in the early 1990s itself. He decided to go into the field of television and produce shows, which would make a difference than the normal melodrama. At least that was his intention. He directed and produced many shows, among them are ‘Song Yatra’, ‘Making of a Legend’, ‘Guftagu’, and so on. He was keen on celebrity talk shows and reality shows. This man is credited for the much controversial and infamous documentary, ‘Bandit Queen- A Controversy’.
Marrying the talented
, proved helpful and productive. Together, they founded the unique, ‘The Indian Television Academy’ ie. ITA. It was one of a kind, and it provided a platform to respect and encourage the talent in the television industry. Appreciating the hard work of television series and promoting talent on TV series was a huge success. The ITA award in 2011 was a huge success and it paved many ways to better the television industry. This award show was a great success and it managed to create a record TRP for any show. The husband and wife have been working on many other causes too, apart from the telly awards. He has two daughters with his wife Anu. The eldest one is all geared up for her debut in the entertainment industry. Latest news is that she will be debuting into Bollywood in father Shashi Ranjan’s latest movie installment, ‘Wedding Pulav’.
