Abhishek Jawkar

Abhishek Jawkar is a young talented director and producer. He is prominently working in Telugu and Marathi film industry. He has also made Bollywood debut with his directorial movie “Missing On A Weekend”. This movie got into a controversy with Censor Board. He completed his graduation in Economics.

During his college days, he was not interested in movies. He was involved with event management in his college. After graduation, he was preparing to move abroad for higher studies. But on his friend's recommendation, he joined film production company. Here he managed to get versed in different aspects of film-making. He started with buying film reels. He also worked on documentaries for Fox Star Studios and History channel.

After few years, he got into film distribution for the movie Singham. It proved to be a successful business for him. So, he continued as a distributor for several films like Yamudu, Golimaar and also for Telugu version of Harry Potter series. Later he started his own production company “Red Bulb Studios”. He made his debut in Marathi cinema by co-producing the film Dabba Asie Paise. It is a 2015 released Marathi movie starring Ganesh, Yatin, Amrapurkar.

The movie highlights the poor condition of Marathi medium school and struggle of the students studying there. He produced another movie, Sugar Salt Aani Prem. Starring Sonali Kulkarni, Shilpa Tulaskar Shilpa Tulaskar is a well known personality of Hin >> Read More... , and Kranti Pedlar. It is a socio-drama movie. It portrays the life of modern-day women and the dilemma which they face in day to day life.

He stepped into the Bollywood with the movie, Missing On A Weekend. It was released in 2016. It is based on a real-life incident occurred with a German tourist, being raped in Goa. The script of this movie was also written by Abhishek Jawkar. From this movie, Karan Hariharan Karan Hariharan, the son of great singer Hariharan >> Read More... made his debut in Bollywood. Karan is a son of famous singer Hariharan. Pawan Malhotra also played an important role in the film. The movie got into a controversy with Censor Board regarding the cuts and adult certificate. Abhishek challenged the decision and filed a legal case against CBFC decision.

Finally, the movie was approved and released with seven cuts. He is also working on the script for his second Bollywood film. He is working on a script of another Marathi film. Abhishek Jawkar has found his life partner. He has got engaged with popular Marathi actress, Prarthana Behere.
