Yuzvendra Chahal is a famous Indian Cricketer popularly known as Yuzi, born on 23rd July 1990 in Jind, Haryana. His father, K.K. Chahal, is an advocate. He has two elder sisters. He was a national-level chess player and represented India at World Youth Chess Championships. In chess, he was ranked 18,321 in Asia and 82,387 worldwide. Due to a lack of opportunities and sponsorships in chess, He shifted his focus toward cricket, which had enormous opportunities in India. He started playing for Haryana in Domestic Cricket in the 2009-2010 season.
He made his first-class debut against Madhya Pradesh, at the age of 19. Earlier, he was known for his leg-spin bowling. He represented Haryana in the Ranji Trophy. In 2011, He was selected by Mumbai Indians for the Indian Premier League (IPL) team. The same year, his team won the Champions League 20-20. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bought Yuzi in the 2014 IPL auction, a turning point in his career. He became the highest wicket-taker for RCB in 2015. Later, He became a part of the National Team in 2016 and made his T20 international debut against Zimbabwe. He also made his One Day International (ODI) Debut for India in the same year, against Zimbabwe. In the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, he became India's third-highest wicket-taker in the tournament, where he took 12 wickets in 8 matches. He delivered many match-winning performances in significant tournaments.
He won his first Man of the Match award in international cricket in 2016. In 2017, he became the first Indian bowler to record a five-wicket hall in the T20 international. He was also the first Indian player to take a six-wicket haul in T20I history. In 2022, He became a part of Rajasthan Royals team for the IPL. Chahal is the first player in the IPL to take 200 wickets. He is the first player to represent India in two sports, Chess and Cricket.
