Born in a joint family of a grain merchant, Virender Sehwag is a famous Indian cricketer. He has two elder sisters and one younger brother. His interest in cricket was visible when he was just seven months old, and his father gave him a toy bat which Sehwag loved the most. He was not academically strong, so his parents allowed him to play cricket professionally. Once while playing, his one of the teeth broke. Watching the accident, his father refused him to play cricket but determined Sehwag somehow convinced him and continued playing. He completed his graduation from the Jamia Milia University.

He had the image of an attacking batsman. He made his debut during 1997-1998 as he was selected playing for the North Zone Cricket Team for The Duleep Trophy. He played extremely well and attained the highest score in one of the match. Next, he played in Ranji Trophy against Punjab and scored 187 runs. His performance led to his selection for the under nineteen team which toured South Africa. He scored two centuries there as well and finally got selected for the National Team. Even after this, he continued to play for Delhi and bagged a victory in the Deodar Trophy.

The start of his One Day International career was disastrous. He just scored one against Pakistan as Shoaib Malik took his wicket. He could not even bowl well then. He had to sit idle for twenty months as he did not get a chance to play. Then in the year 2001, he started gaining prominence. He scored fifty-four runs against Australia, took three wickets, and was awarded the man of the match. That was when he came to everyone's notice.

Then again in a series against NewZealand, due to Sachin's absence, Sehwag was sent as an opener. He scored the third fastest ODI century then. In the year 2004, he was the only Indian cricketer to score a triple century in test cricket beating V.V.S. Laxman’s previous records. In the year 2005, he got selected for the ICC World Super Series and performed well there. Sehwag has been famous for making some fastest centuries in cricket after Sir Don Bradman. He played for IPL as well and served as the captain of the Delhi Daredevils team. He had been the only batsman to perform five consecutive half-centuries in T20. In the year 2015, he announced his formal retirement.
