Robin Venu Uthappa is a famous Indian Cricketer born on 11th of November, 1985 in Karnataka. His father Venu Uthappa was a hockey umpire and a Kodava Hindu. He is a half Kodava by ethnicity and by religion, he is a Christian like her mother, Roselyn. He did his schooling from Delhi Public School and graduated from Shri Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain College, Bangalore which comes under the Jain University.
Robin Uthappa married his long time girlfriend, Sheetal Gautham in March, 2016. Robin Uthappa is a right-handed batsman, right arm medium bowler. and occasional wicketkeeper. He successfully debuted in One Day International against England in April, 2006 in a seventh and final match of India scoring 86 runs as an opening batsman which was the highest score for an Indian debutant, After this incident, he is known by “The Walking Assassin” as well.
He is always thankful to his coach Pravin Amre for teaching him and sensing his potential. Robin debuted in T20 on 13th September, 2007 against Scotland. He has a passion for cricket since his childhood. Before playing for India, he played in under 19 team of India as well. He has also played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Karnataka, Pune Warriors, India Green, India A, South Zone, Board President XI, East Zone, India Red, Kolkata Knight Riders. He was first noticed when he scored 66 runs for India B against India A in challenger trophy in 2005.
He then played ODI in January, 2007 for series against West Indies. He didn't play in first two games but scored quick 70 in the third game whereas in 3rd game he scored only 28 runs. Uthappa became the first Indian to score 50 runs in a 20-20 International match against Pakistan. Indian Premier League CAREER: Uthappa successfully played his first IPL for Mumbai Indians in 2008. In 2009, he was moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore, but it seems 2009 was not in his favor from career prospects. Moreover, after the emergence of Virat Kohli and his performance in Asia Cup 2008, he was overlooked by the selectors.
He was then bought by Kolkata knight riders in 2014 IPL. He didn't start well but slowly came into form and scored 660 runs in the complete tournament and became the highest run scorer for 2014 tournament for which he was honored with Madhavrao Scindia Award. He also became the only player to score 40 or more runs in 10 consecutive T20 matches. Robin Uthappa has always been interesting to watch; always unafraid to hit the ball in the air. Though, tempering his stroke play has been his biggest problem which kept him away from the Indian team for a long period.
