Jhulan Nishit Goswami is an Indian all-round cricketer. She was born on 25 November 1982 in Chakdaha, West Bengal, India. Goswami was born in a middle-class family. Her nickname is Babul. Jhulan does right-hand batting and right-arm medium-fast bowling. Earlier, she was a big fan of cricket but in 1992 as Jhulan watched “1992 Cricket World Cup,” interest for cricket was developed in her heart. She decided to build a career in cricket at the age of just 15. Her parents always wanted Jhulan to focus on her studies, but she never stopped. Somehow this girl managed her studies as well as cricket.
As her hometown did not have any facility for learning cricket, so she had to travel to Kolkata. Jhulan made her test debut against England on 14 January 2002, ODI debut on 6 January 2002, and T20I debut on 5 August 2006. Her Jersy number is 25. Jhulan Goswami is the former caption of India national women’s cricket team. Jhulan got appointed as “bowling consultant for India women’s national cricket team.” She played as a player-coach.
Jhulan has received many awards and recommendations till date. Her awards and titles include 2007- ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year, Caption of Indian Women’s Cricket Team (2008-2011), Fastest Bowler, 2010- Arjuna Award, 2012- Padma Shri, and Leading International Wicket Taker. Jhulan ended her test match career on 16 November 2015 against South Africa, last ODI was against England on 28 February 2019, and last T20I was against Bangladesh on 10 June 2018. In August 2018, retirement from WT20Is was announced by her.
