Shruti Merchant

Born to the dancer whose father infused the style of Jaipur into Bollywood songs and that has lasted for several years to come, the late Shri B.Hiralal, Shruti was trained both in Kathak and Bharatnatyam. Also films like Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas, which is needless to talk about the dance involved in his films, what brilliant choreography especially for the song ‘Dola Re Dola’. Furthermore films like Dostana, the songs; Desi girl and Shut up and Bounce, then came Tashan and many others.

For all of Vaibhavi’s choreographed films, Shruti Merchant accompanied her as well. Shruti toured for five years to several places; Canada, Switzerland, US, New Zealand, Australia, U.K, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, South Africa, Thailand, Romania, China and Singapore, for her theatrical 'The Merchants of Bollywood', which revolved along the lines of Vaibhavi and Shri B.Hiralal’s career as a choreographer. Shruti danced her way to fame with her first film, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl for the song, Thug Le, for which she won the Best Choreographer by Big Entertainment.

She later stepped onto the dance platform on the small screen as a judge for one of India's most famous reality TV Show on Zee TV - Dance India Dance in the year 2013. She then went to kick start with her production company, 'Quintessence Entertainment Productions' with the sole purpose of bringing commercial theater into the Indian Entertainment Market. She later went on to produce and direct 'Taj Express’ which is India's first international production. This musical premiered at the Jamshed Bhabha Theater in Mumbai, and it's World Premiere took place at the Esplanade Theater in Singapore in 2012. After which they went on to complete over 25 shows in about ten different cities across China.

They also went on to perform at the '15 th Turkish State Theater Sabanci International Adana Theater Festival' in March 2013. She then shook a leg with her second theatrical musical, 'Taj Express the Bollywood Musical' which performed under the banner name 'Bollywood Express' and went on to complete 45 shows in about 36 cities in France, all in a span of two months; November and December in the year 2013. She then toured in Taiwan, at the Taipei National Theater between 21 st to 28 th July 2014.

After all the fame and talent she exposed to the whole wide world, she was called to perform at the 50 th Annual International Festival de Carthage in Tunisia and also at Bangkok's 16 th International Festival of Dance and Music. The show went on to make its rounds at Russia in the months October and November 2014. They went on to perform 15 shows in thirteen cities. Upon reaching France later, they completed 23 shows in 15 cities across the country. Kudos to one of the most hardworking choreographers in India.
