Sheetal Rajput is an Indian television journalist. She began her career in journalism as a trainee reporter at Zee News in 2000 and took over national and international assignments. She is known for her live reporting as the first Indian woman journalist, from the war zone in Iraq during March-April 2003. She has also worked with Aaj Tak for a short period of time. Sheetal was born in a Dogra Rajput family in Jammu, her father is a retired state administrative officer and her mother is a retired lecturer. Sheetal received her Master in science from Jammu University in 1998 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication in 1999. She now works with India News as an executive editor, talk show host, prime-time anchor, and on-field reporter. She is a host on the chat show “Jana Gana Mana” and co-host & panel expert on a weekly cross border show “Sarhad Aar Paar” by India News and Din News Pakistan. Sheetal is married to Amit Palit who is also a journalist by profession.
