A self-confessed foodie and critic, Bikramjit Ray has come a long way in chasing his dreams. Known widely as ‘The Fat Man’, he is a well-accustomed face to the Indian television viewers. He graduated with a Bachelors of Arts and continued as a journalist. With journalism at hand, Bikramjit Ray made a move on to the television with the sole goal of food in mind. He started working for CNN IBN in 2005 as a food critic in the show ‘Secret Kitchen’ entertaining audience with his well-intended humor. He claims that passion for food and the ability to differentiate between rights and wrongs paves the way to be an excellent food critic. With an innate grasp of knowledge in the field of food, Bikramjit Ray has travelled far and wide to taste a range of dishes. He talks passionately describing food in ways such as ‘shaadi ka khana’ or ‘ghar ka khana’. He takes countless efforts in describing food right from its origin.
Recently in the August of 2012 Bikramjit Ray launched a new reality show with NDTV Good Times called as ‘Fat Man & 13 Brides’. The show revolves around Bikramjit going around India in the search for a perfect bride, and the bride-to-be must show an erudite skill in the arts of culinary. With the delicious recipes and outright mind-blowing comedy, the show is a huge success as far as cooking and wedding shows go. Bikramjit states that his friends and family have been a huge support and were the backbone of his success on television. In an interview, he claimed that a meal cooked by Ferran Adria, the head chef of the elBulli restaurant in Roses on the Costa Brava, would be his dream meal.Â
