Soumyarka Gupta

Soumyarka Gupta, also known by the nickname Shom is an actor, model, scriptwriter and copywriter who has worked in Hindi cinema. He was born on 27th September 1984 in West Bengal, India. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in ‘Crafting Creative Communication’ from Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad and a B.Com degree from Osmania University. He holds a certification in Krav Maga, an Israeli self-defense combat. He has 13 years of theatre experience and has acted in several short films.

His background in scriptwriting led him to produce over 30 TV commercials and, 80 corporate films and, various biographical short films. Some of his notable works include Sweet Suite, Trust on our Trust, Guns and Gulaabs, and The Last Six Days. The movie Guns and Gulaabs which released in 2022 marked his breakthrough, in which he played the role of ‘Shamik’ who runs the most significant drug cartels in India of 80s which earned him recognition. He has resided in various parts of India such as Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Pune, Amaravati, Jalgaon, Gurgaon and Ahmedabad. Upon experiencing diverse cultures, he became fluent in regional dialects such as Hindi, Odia, Haryanvi, Bengali, Telugu and Marathi. He is based in New Delhi and has residences in Mumbai and Kolkatta.
