Master Nissar [Nissar Ali Mohammed Ali] was born on 5th March 1902. He belongs to a family of musicians and was born to his parents in Delhi. He was ten years old when he relocated to Bhopal and started working at his Uncle's theatre company as an actor. There, at the theatre, he received training in music. While at the theatre, he used to perform in female characters mostly. He never completed his schooling, but his Urdu was flawless, and he had a great talent for learning or memorizing the dialogues. After he moved to Calcutta, he joined the theatre, Madan Theatres. He had a debut with the film Shirin Farhad, released in 1931. The movie further featured around 42 songs.
It made the lead, Nissar, extremely into the limelight. In the film, Nissar acted against the lead actress, Jahanara Kajjan. The pair came up together in the next six films. Master Nissar died on 13th July 1980 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
