Rii Sen

Rii Sen, whose birth name is Rituparna Sen, was born on July 26, 1978. She is an Indian-born and is active in the Bengali Film Industry. She worked as a model at first, before entering the television and film industry. In 2003, she began her career as a model, had featured in many commercials as well. Her debut film was called, “Tepantorer Mathe” which was not released. 

Rii acted in some art films like “ Bish Story Soon >> Read More... ” “Gandu” and “Cosmic Sex” which were critically acclaimed.  Rii has been known to choose art films, all throughout her film career. Her debut film “Tepantorer Mathe” was not released, but this did not deter her from moving forward. Rii went on to work on a documentary called “Love in India.” The subject of the documentary was the ancient practice of worshipping one through one’s body, which is called in Bangla “Dehotatwa.” The director of the documentary Qaushiq Mukherjee If there is one word that can describe Qaushiq Muk >> Read More... was very happy with how Rii had portrayed her role. The very same year, she worked on another documentary, directed by Shaymal Karmakar, which was also screened at the Mumbai International Film Festival, in 2010.
Rii played the role of Anushka in the movie “Bish” which was released in 2009. Directed by Quashiq Mukherjee, Rii described, in her interview with the media that this particular role was very difficult for her; the role was that of a college student who was confused, yet very confident about herself. 

In 2010, Rii was seen working in another project, by Qaushiq Mukherjee, named “Gandu,” where she had a pivotal role. Her character was critically acclaimed by many, as she had to sport nudity. Nudity and its characterization had been debated over years in the cinema industry, but some critics describe her frontal display of nudity as a revolutionary step towards new age art cinema. In 2013, Rii appeared in a psychedelic adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s namesake play, “Tasher Deshe”, by Qaushiq Mujherjee.

Sen has been portrayed as a bold actress, who considers showing off her body as a form of art more than a display. She thinks that it is imperative to record time through one’s work, and she feels she doesn’t want to be mocked at, later on, for her work.
