Pahari Sanyal was born on February 22, 1906, in Darjeeling, Bengal Presidency, British India. His real name was Nagendranath. He was an Actor and Singer and has worked in various Bengali films. He has also worked in Raj Kapoor's Jagte Raho, a Hindi film. He has also worked in an English film called Merchant-Ivory Venture The Householder. He was also a linguist and knew Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, English, and French. He died on February 10, 1974, at the age of 67, in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
