Ajay Bhattacharya was an Indian poet, lyricist, playwright, and film director. His works are in the Bengali language. He was born on 6 July 1906 and died on 24 December 1943. Bhattacharya was born in Shyamgram, Tripura. He started his education at Ishwar Pathshala. He started pursuing music, literature, singing, and drama and became proficient in the fields. Apart from being good in a different field, he was also excellent in his studies. His results made him famous in the city of Comilla. In 1929, Bhattacharya passed with MA in Bengali from the University of Calcutta. Ajay Bhattacharya wrote more than two thousand songs. His songs were well-received and were very popular among the audience.

The first song that he wrote in his career goes by the title “Hasnuhana Aaj Niralaya Footli Ken Apan Mane.” His other notable works are “one day when the bird sang, today the moon rises, go to my country Sujan if you remember that day.” He was also a film director and directed two films called Ashok and Chadmbeshi. Apart from that, Bhattacharya was also successful as a film dialogue writer.
